Elements of Islay - Cl1

NOSE: Peat, Smoke, Leather with hints of wet earth, flowers and sea weed.

TASTE: Full bodied, strong whisky. After smoke and sea breeze loats sweet notes appear mainly Fishermans bucket and cold apples. After adding some water, sweet woody notes become dominant.

Elements of Islay is series of special batches of whisky from Caol Ila, Ardbeg and Laphroaig distilleries. Bottle I have is from First batch of Caol Ila bottles (hence the nro 1 after)

This is best served for those who have keen interest in Whisky. A beginner maybe would not be able appreciate the complexity of this idea. I bet they would find the whole exercise bit pointles. First thing to notice from the bottle is that there is no age mark. This apparently is to allow different Islay Distilleries to mix a product that best represents the heart of their being.

In an Ideal world, I would enjoy this sitting by the peaceful sea in a warmish September night. Preparing some fish we earlier couth ourself. Everybody would be moaning how the smoke from fire always follows just them. Wet fishing gear, still in the boat would add to the subtle swift of wind coming from the sea. The person on my left has little damp sweater and person on right wears Channel nro 5. Smoke from the fire masks the smell of fish but every now and then wind brings the smell of fallen leafs in to mix.
